The Petal Patch is bursting with plants.  While the winds and weather have been interesting, we have kept everything comfy, but now it is time to give these plants a new home.  Our greenhouse roof blew off in the wind on April 15th but it was replaced with the help of many neighbors.  That is one of the special things about living in a small community – you can always count on great help in time of need.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you in the coming month to shop for plants for your containers or to find that special perennial to add to your landscape.  We also have some new pottery, iron and great garden junk from Front Porch Antiques.  Stop by for our Sip of Spring on April 30th from 2:00 until 6:00 and enjoy a glass of wine while you shop.  Superior Estates Winery will be hosting the wine tasting and music will be provided by the Sons of the Republic.  Join us for a relaxing afternoon to benefit Nuckolls County Cancer Stomp and Thayer County Relay for Life.


Yummy Chocolate Cake Recipe sampled at Container Parties this spring

Vegetable oil spray for pan/flour for dusting

1- 18.25 oz. pkg. devils food cake mix

1 -3.9 oz. choc. Instant pudding mix

4 large eggs

1 cup dairy sour cream

½ cup warm water

½ cup vegetable oil

1 ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Lightly mist Bundt pan with oil and dust with flour.  Place cake mix, pudding, eggs, sour cream, warm water and oil in large mixing bowl.  Blend on low one minute. Scrape bowl. Increase speed to medium 2-3 minutes more.  Fold in chocolate chips.  Place in pan and bake in the center of the oven.  It is done when it starts to pull away from the sides of pan.  Cool 20 minutes.  Remove from pan.  Cool 20 minutes longer.  Good served warm.   350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.  Serves 16.
